When it comes down to it, a W is the only stat that really matters. Isn't it?

If i'm seeing things correctly, his cap this year is 2.9mil, so no, we could not have afforded him. Ben Scrivens, on the other hand, has a cap of about 600,000 i think, with some of that possibly being retained by Toronto (they retained some salary in the trade).

He was a RFA this past off-season. The Leaves signed him to a 2-year deal with a cap hit of $2.9 million. It doesn't look like the Kings could afford that, and it was time to give him his shot regardless. He earned it.

    He needed to be traded.

But we got FLEECED in the deal. A starting caliber goalie, for a backup goalie and a below average forward that hasn't done a damn thing all year? Ridiculous.

Bernier is good, but he's gone. I don't miss him. IN fact, I don't think he will amount to a lot any way. Let's see where we are 5 years down the road. Can't compare a goalie in his first real year as a starter when teams haven't gotten the book on him yet vs a guy coming off back surgery about a year ago and now with a possible groin tear.

Don't get it, we dumped a lot of salary and Scrivens looks just as good as Bernier in the SO.

The lesson should be, never draft a goalie in the first two rounds. That's why I was pissed off when Dean took a goalie prospect again (Gibson) while a good goalie like Bernier was still 2nd best after being drafted years ago.

It takes ages before they are ready and than you wont get anything for them in a trade.
