It might be a good idea to wait and see whether he gets taken, no? Your implication may very well be correct....or not. We'll see....should be interesting.

apparently everyone seems to be jumping the gun a bit here. according to some over on HF, this is some sort of special waiver period as agreed to by the NHL and the NHLPA in the event of a lockout. there was something like this during the last lockout - it has to do with two-way, waiver eligible players, and they can be recalled throughout the season without having to go through re-entry waivers... or something like that.

players can be taken, but apparently after the last lockout, no one was. apparently François Beauchemin was taken off the wire by Columbus, and that was only because Montreal put him on waivers a couple of days prior to this special waiver window..

I don't think anything went "wrong". DL swung for the fences instead of taking the safe pick (Alzner) because at the time the Kings needed a franchise Dman and Hickey was the guy he liked best.

My point is that since any GM can have him for free, DL must not have been offered anything for him...thus, he has little value to other GMs.

He still does. Players mature at different rates. Hickey was every bit as impressive, if not more so, than Voynov last camp. He still has a few things to work on, but he is still in the plans.

Hickey doesn't have that dynamic puck skill, or any one attribute that could allow him to play in the NHL while still learning on the job. He is going to have to be a steady, reliable player to make it. That is going to be a challenge because of his size, but from all acounts his decision making has improved and he is concentrating on making smart, safe, simple plays. I believe that they have also asked him to improve his lower body strength, and that doesn't happen overnight.

It looks doubtful that he will ever develop into the impact player that you should take with a top-5 pick, but that doesn't mean that he can't still be a very solid, talented support player when he is ready.

And in regards to the other players on this waiver list, weren't these the entire Manchester RFA gang who received qualifying offers? The Kings are also high on Campbell as a late bloomer - no way are they going to expose that layer of depth to waivers without it being a secured process.

Pretty sure you guys don't know what you are talking about. My money is on the forum knowing better than the front office every time.

So wait what's with all the heavy action on the wire then? I remember vaguely Nolan and King being assigned took a trip around waivers, something like they would be able to avoid or be subject to recall waivers?

    Full waiver action as reported

    VAN: G. Desbiens, P. Mullen
    LAK: S. Legein, D. Meckler, M-A. Cliche, T. Hickey
    DET: J. Pearce, F. Pare
    DAL: F. Wathier, M. Fortunas, L. Gazdic, T. Morin, T. Petersen, T. Sloan
    NYI: S. Backman, N. McIver, M. Watkins, T. Wishart
    PHI: M. Ford, D. Syvret
    COL: B. Lerg, S. Sullivan, B. Thomas
    ANA: P-L. Letourneau-Leblond
    OTT: T. Eckford, H. Jessiman, N. Lawson
    WAS: R. Potulny, Z. Hamill, M. Clackson, D. Sabourin, P. McNeill, G. Stafford, K. Marshall
Seems like lots of GM's are seeing this the same way. If it's procedural i'd like to get an explanation what for.

Edit, Just noted that TSN isn't showing Campbell or Clune on our waiver list. Here's the link. ICE CHIPS

Couldnt find anything about the waivers on MM's site or twitter.

From what I understand in this thread, reentry waivers are gone in the new CBA. Which would mean that players only have to get through waivers once during the season.

So in this case, ya put Hickey on waivers now, when everyone is on waivers and it seems there is an understanding between the GMs. If he clears now, he can be called up any time for the rest of the season and Dean doesn't have to worry about losing him.

That fits with Cliche since he was supposed to be the most ready forward from Manchester and ready to get a good cup of joe.

Anyone know the story on Meckler and Legein? I don't remember them at all

Yeah, I think the Mayor jumped the gun on releasing the intel he received.
