Default Clifford recovering from successful wrist surgery

LA Kings Insider has learned that forward Kyle Clifford, who totaled eight points (3-5=8) in 71 regular season games and seven points (1-6=7) in 24 playoff games, has undergone successful surgery to correct a small fracture of a bone in one of his wrists.

Surgery was “recommended and was successful,” and took place on the same date as Jonathan Quick’s surgery, according to a source with knowledge on the subject. Per Yahoo!’s Puck Daddy blog, Quick’s surgery took place on June 24. Whereas Quick’s recovery period from wrist ligament surgery has been estimated at 10-to-12 weeks, Clifford’s recovery time has been set at approximately six-to-eight weeks.

At this point, it is unclear when exactly the injury occurred.

A second round pick in 2009, Clifford has amassed 48 points (22-26=48) in 276 NHL games with Los Angeles since debuting as a 19-year-old early in the 2010-11 season.

Sounds like he'll be good to go by training camp. Get well, Cliffy!

Get well Clifford. The guy was a boss in the playoffs. 2 points in SCF Gm1 and was making so many good plays and playing well positionally. I hope he can continue has playoff play and then step up his game this year. Justify that second round pick!!!

No wonder he didn't score 30 goals.
    This explains everything.

    Get well, Kyle!

I was told to just close my eyes and pretend to pull out a carrot. Jokes on them, I peeked the whole time.

If I could choose players to have nice offensive seasons, Kyle Clifford would top that list. I'll never forget that it was him that drove the net on Toffoli's shot and drew the defenders to him, leaving A-Mart wide open for the rebound to win the Cup.

And watching him take the hit to make the play in the Game 7 vs the Ducks, getting smeared by Getzlaf but still making the perfect pass out to Richards? Beautiful stuff. And all of that with a maybe busted wrist?

I hope he gets at least some sort of unsung hero award.
