Default Could CA income tax affect ability to sign players?

Not looking to get political here...

But with CA's income tax on top earners now above 13%, anyone else besides me think that this could affect the ability of the Kings to sign top-flight players, vs teams located in other states with low (or even no) personal state income tax?

If I were a player looking to earn a big payday, and was looking at my options, a 13% hit to my take home pay would certainly make me think twice about California teams vs a team such as the Dallas Stars or even Florida Panthers who are in states with no income tax...

if the CBA were created fairly...teams in these states should have that much % added to their salary cap as an allowance in order to prevent an unfair advantage going to the teams in states with no or low income taxes.

That is why athletes own homes in Florida.

It will not affect signings. Any "top earner" has a good tax dude that can show them how to squeeze deductions. Not to be cynical, but a lot of charity work is not being done out of the goodness in their heart.

Professional player taxes are a weird deal. There's states that go after visiting players incomes as well. I'd say overall these guys trust their tax people to help them out and figure most of the returns will be marginal. The cost of living would be another possibly larger factor for most of these guys but it doesn't seem to stop people from going to expensive markets.

I think the tax issue is offset by the desirability of living in SoCal.
