first, my thoughts go out to David's family and friends. A devastating loss....

Also, IMO David was the best PA announcer i've ever heard at any sporting event. Hockey is difficult because of all the eastern european names, and he handled that with ease. A class act on so many levels...

The man deserves something named after him in the LA Live Area.

    RIP David :\

All of us have lost not only a great talent, but a friend.

Let it be a reminder that each day is a gift.

Rest peacefully, Mr. Courtney. I am so happy that you have been able to see and take part in your beloved Kings finally winning it all.

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

RIP David. The Kings family has suffered a terrible loss today. Kings games won't be the same without that great voice. :(

D.C. is the reason that I got into announcing... Words can't express how sad this is. We've lost a legend.

    RIP David

    Default David Courtney passed away.

I just saw this very sad news. Brings years to my eyes. I am in total shock. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Courtney family. I am happy that he got to see the Kings win the Stanley Cup not to mention call the final games. Kings games will not be the same just like Lakers games have not been the same since Chick passed.

I don't want to believe what I'm hearing about David Courtney's death.

This guy has a voice that was so inspiring to hear at a Kings game- especially when the King won the STANLEY CUP for the first time- where David Courtney got to call the game.

There will be NO ONE like a David Courtney again that can call the game like he did. Who had enthusiasm, inspiration, and devotion like he did with the Kings.

I think his name should be in the walk of fame- just like Bob Miller's.

R.I.P. You will be dearly missed.

I just read about his death and wish his family best, he was still relatively young. Going to be weird hearing another voice next season (whenever that ends up being).

I guess at least he managed to watch the Kings win.

    RIP

Such a sad day, when it started out as a happy day to commemorate another L.A. legend's birthday... Vin Scully turns 85 today.

We are really fortunate to have such outstanding sports voices here in the L.A. area, we've had Vin since the beginning. We had Chick Hearn for so many years. Same with Bob and Jim in the booth for our Kings... I don't think many knew what David Courtney looked like or even his name... but we ALL knew his trademark "Los Angeles goooooooal..." call, and of course "Your Los Angeles Kings!!" before every game.

    Very sad day indeed. :(

Brings a smile to my face when he introduced the Kings on Opening Night with head coach Terry Murphy..Murray!
