.....RIP.....
Way too young for this to happen
Rip Mr. Courtney.
Give my boya big hug David!
This is very sad. He's been such a huge part the Kings. Hearing him announce "Ladies and Gentlemen, YOUR LOS ANGELES KINGS!" and "LOS ANGELES GOAL..." has been such a thrill over the years. RIP David Courtney.
Just wanted to share a little, meaningless story that hopefully will bring a smile to your faces during this tough time. It actually took place during the last NHL lockout in 2004-2005.
I was at an Ice Dogs game in Long Beach. David Courtney happened to be the PA announcer that night. And being it minor league hockey, obviously security may not be up to par with NHL standards.
Well, a "fan", we will call him "Drunky McDrunkerson" for our sake. Somehow jumped the railing of the beer garden and opened a door to the ice during an intermission. He ran on to the ice and started jumping around like a fool(not sure how many people in the stands noticed, as there were maybe only a thousand people there AT MOST peppered throughout the stands.) No personnel of any kind noticed him. Well, David Courtney was the only person even near the rink at that time, and seeing Drunky, he opens his PA door, steps out on to the ice and starts walking towards him, motioning to "COME HERE!". The fan tries to run and slips. Courtney grabs him by the shirt and pulls him off the ice.
It was absolutely hilarious to watch, and I am sure David probably got a kick out of it too.
Not that the story means anything, but just thought I would share.
