    i was going up the escalator last night at the Clipper game and immediately noticed that i wasn't hearing his voice. i believe it was the PA announcer of the dodgers who worked last night.

    This is a huge bummer.
    at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

    There was nothing like the thrill and enthusiasm of the voice that said "LOS ANGELES GOAL...!" followed by the name of the scorer and the stats. David Courtney was a true gentleman and an institution. I'm saddened by his loss and for his entire family. R.I.P. David Courtney.
