Did I hallucinate the whole thing?
I swear to God, I just had this dream... or vision... or something...
The Kings were their usual mediocre selves, couldn't score, couldn't do anything right... fired their coach... but somehow managed to squeak into the playoffs as the last seed and had to match up against the best team in the league. After being horrid basically all year, losing more games than they won, they stood to get humiliated in the first round by a "real" team...
And then, somehow, I had this bizarre dream that the Kings magically transformed into this unstoppable juggernaut that blew through the playoffs like a freight train through a field of egg cartons... annihilating four straight opponents and winning... THE KINGS ACTUALLY WINNING... the Stanley Cup.
But then a new season started, and they're right back to the exact same bunch of apathetic, no-talent, hapless losers they've always been. The same group of guys. And they traded their first-round pick. I get the exact same feeling from this team I got during the Khristich years... just no chance to win on most nights... just hoping to try and steal a point here or there from the other bottom-feeder teams. They just look like they couldn't care less. No talent, no heart, just pathetic from top to bottom.
So seriously... did I hallucinate the whole thing?
Did I hallucinate the whole thing?
Nope...we got 40 years of bad breaks that turned into good breaks for one magical ride.
Did I hallucinate the whole thing?
The Kings just won a Stanley Cup so they can go back to sucking in peace.
