It depends on what you are using the sweater for. If it's just to show support/love for the team while watching it then by all means a replica is fine. Plus it's cheaper if food/beer is spilled on it.

Now in my case I use my sweaters to play in. Sucks because they don't sell authentic "goal cut" jerseys. So I'm stuck buying those $40 sweaters to fit my gear and they only last 6-8 months before pucks have ripped them up. I've picked up a couple game worn goalie sweaters and they fit better and are better quality then what I can buy to fit. Now I just search Meigray for jersey's with my number and if the price is right I pull the trigger. I've done it once and had the name pulled off and put my name on it. Works for me.

That being said I was wearing my game worn Ersberg sweater in my Stanley Cup picture.. Not my replica. =P

I only wear jerseys that still smell like the player who's name is on the back.
Once that fresh gameworn scent fades, I toss em aside so I won't be mistakenly looked down upon for wearing a replica
^This post is completely idiotic, don't read it.^

In some cases authentic jerseys can be resold for more than what you paid (generally older 80s, 90s authentics). People need to know 95% of the Reebok Edge authentics being sold are not truely what the players wear on the ice. They are referred to as Edge 1.0 and the players hated the material. The jerseys they now use are the Edge 2.0, In a nutshell they are use the older airknit material but have the stream lined look Reebok wants even though the actual cut is more generous compared to the 1.0. I own a 1.0 and wear it but will not buy another. I was able to purchase a 2.0 end of last season and got it numbered by the same outfit that does the Kings game worn jerseys. It was done to match a game worn jersey I own so that is reason C as to why I purchase authentic jerseys instead of replicas.
Jerseys are really a dilemma. I bought a replica from Icejerseys rather than an authentic because of the difference between the authentic and the Edge 2.0. I don't want a 1.0 or even an Indo-edge if I am paying authentic prices, I want the real deal. So I ended up going cheaper with the understanding that neither jersey matches the one on the ice. A game worn would be cool but all of the on ice jerseys are so big now. I think the smallest are size 56. So, for me and the wife, game worn really isn't a great option either.

It makes me wish college me bought more jerseys. Oh wait I did buy a bunch. Those were the good old days when an authentic was virtually a clone of what the players wore on the ice and a game worn of a scrub was the same or less than the price of an authentic AND the gamers were often sz 52 or 54 for a big guy.

With almost every option having pros and cons, I say any choice is acceptable as long as it isn't a Chinese knockoff piece of crap from eBay or dhgate.

I also don't care to purchase a 1.0. Already have one of those and don't really care for it. The Indo Ege which is 2.0 seems to be good quality. It's a 52 and is pretty close to the game worn jerseys I own. I know many people have issues with the Indo Edge but I am plenty happy with it.

I don't give a rat's a$$ what anyone wears...just as long as there is no "jersey foul" involved and it's not an opposing team or a team not even playing that night. Also seeing players names on jerseys from different era's really ticks me off.

Yeah, those replica smells just can't compare to the authentics. And don't even mention those cheap Chinese knockoffs.

personally I don't care, what you are wearing as long as you are screaming for the Kings at the game.

Tangent: My wife is a Ducks fan. start booing (we were married before the Ducks existed and she worked for Disney)
Last year my brother was in Goodwill, getting Halloween costume stuff for the kids, and saw a Mighty Ducks Authentic jersey (no name/number) for $2. Yes he bought it.

Screw those people! Lighten up and have fun.

Why would it bother you to see a name from years past? Are we supposed toss our jerseys away if a player retires? I think it is sort of cool to see older jerseys mixed in the crowd. I hope to see Robitaille jerseys and other older jerseys for years to come.

As for the OP's original question: we have enough rules already in life why trouble yourself with what people may think about the jersey you wear? As many have pointed out, as long as it is not a crap knockoff or a jersey foul wear whatever makes you happy.
