Sure...which helps explain why he is an idiot. But it doesn't change that fact that he IS one. He may be a rookie in the NHL, but I'm sure he's been playing Hockey long enough to know better than skating past his teammates to make a spectacle of himself. i don't think i've never known an 18-year old to NOT be an idiot... myself included.
and i was the geeky, AP type of kid.

maybe i'm underscoring the whole upstaging his teammates thing. but i think that'd be more applicable only were he on a more veteran heavy team... or a team with bizarro Irish luck with Russian kids like Columbus. Edmonton has a buncha knuckleheads all around the same age, and he's the new kid on the block, so they don't care... and they're gonna tease him about it.

what would honestly be more worrisome about this kid, would be burnt out on the NHL at 25/26/27 like Ovechkin appears to be. they are very similar type characters.

I saw the game and if I was Nail, I would've done the same thing. That game was totally intense, Oilers got a goal disallowed near the one minute mark during the 3rd period. It really seemed like the Kings were going to get the W. Then to get ANOTHER goal 4 seconds left was electric! Even though I am a Kings fan, I totally felt the happiness Nail was feeling. I see nothing wrong with showing that emotion and excitement.

Ovechkin's celebration, on the other hand, I thought was tasteless. No emotion in his celebration, just cockiness thinking he had a hot stick.. yikes.

Actually Morris was punching Whitney (which Whitney started).

It was funny because it looked like Yakupov wanted to have another crazy celebration and then restrained himself.

I celebrate that way in my beer league. Then the Toyota Center fan(s) litter the ice in disapproval. Can't wait to do it again in another 3 years when I score my next goal.
