Default Don Cherry says Nail Yakupov ‘acted like an idiot’ during goal celebration:

The sun rises in the East. The price of stamps will grow forever higher. The Puppy Bowl will always be won by a dog. These are called “givens.” Please add to that list Don Cherry bemoaning the behavior of a European player during an exuberant goal celebration. Here’s the venerable Hockey Night In Canada commentator on Saturday, on Nail Yakupov’s slide down the rink for the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night: Don Cherry says Nail Yakupov

I was reading some of the posts at the end of that article and I agree with some of them. If Edm won on the road and did that in the Staples Center then yes it would have wrong to do that on the road in a normal season game. But for that type of goal he scored, his emotions were of extreme excitement and was showing it. Yeah it was just a regular season game but it wasn't like he scored in the 2nd period with 10 mins to go. I personally see nothing wrong with it and actually nice to see some emotion.

I bet some here will say it was a disgrace etc. because it happened against the Kings but if a King player did it they would be cheering and laughing and telling others to stfu who didn't like it.

It seemed spontaneous to me, doesn't mean he might not get an extra elbow or two later this season though. I would love to see Cherry's reaction if a Euro ever pulled a sharpie out of a goalpost...

Exceptional celebration was no big deal, I think, given the circumstances.
But, it was also the 3rd or 4th game of the season. Seeing that celebration, being neutral here, I would have figured he just won a gold medal, advanced to the or in the playoffs, or won the cup. And not tied the 3rd or 4th game of the season. I think he went wwwaaayyyy over the acceptable excessive celebration allowable, if there is one.
I also have no problem when a team, or a player, take exception to excessive celebrations/ showing them up. He does not have the size that Ovechkin does. I think he will learn really quick, that you do not show up the opposition.

Yet if it were Toews, he'd have to change his underwear. Just some more typical euro-hate from that dummy.

Given the situation, it didn't bother me. He's a kid and was excited and given the disallowed goal a minute earlier, I had no problem with it. He's a rookie and hasn't learned how little a regular season, game-tying goal really matters. Of course if the Oil ends up squeaking into the playoffs by a point or two then it will have been totally justified. I am always a fan or MORE personality in the NHL.

Skating halfways down the rink, and fist pumping on both knees, after a tying goal on the first few games of the season, is excessive.
If a Kings player did that, I would be waiting to see if he is willing to take some licks, or will someone else stick up for him.

For my personal taste, I would classify this as excessive. There is something to be said for the proverbial "acting like you've been there before." However, was it excessive enough to comment on it, let alone make some form of stink about it? Not really.

In other words, this reeks of the xenophobia that typical spews from this dinosaur. Nothing to see here...
