......because he's coming off an injury. JQ will be fine. I just hope we're not too far out when he's back in form. In the meantime, let's see a few more minutes to Bernier.

Drew Doughty's PDO is 909 and his On-Ice SV% is 835. I don't think his problem, Mr. Hockey Commentator, is what you think it is.

OK I get why Corsi is valued... and I understand looking at zone starts.... I think I understand fenwick.....

PLEASE explain to me why anybody gives a **** about PDO???

It seems like the most coincidental stat in the world.

    Am I missing something?

You put as much weight and ice time on any of the other defenseman on the Kings, they wouldn't be performing like they are. He takes a lot of attention off other players when he's on the ice, just watch how many times a game the opponent tries to run him; it just goes with his territory and he knows it.

All of that being said, he does need to step up his game; no doubt.
This sounds like using logic. We don't take kindly to people using logic around these parts.

I think that's the point. Over the course of a season, it's basically impossible that the Kings will give up a save percentage of .835 while Doughty is on the ice. So it just shows you that this 10 game stretch is probably a weird fluke. Over his last two years Doughty averaged a POD of 1000.

Alternatively, if it's not a 10-game fluke, then it suggests that Doughty has become one of the worst defensemen in the league, and I don't think that's the case.

He was on the ice for Detroit's winning goal, and he arguably could have cleared that puck instead of serving it up to the point...
If you want to play the blame game, blame that one on Stoll, who did what he would normally do as a center following the face-off, except that he was playing wing on the play and, therefore, was out of position.

    well,
the x axis is offensive zone starts, so the farther to the right, the easier ice position starts
the y axis is quality of competition, so the higher up, the more difficult opponents the player is playing against

so toward the bottom right is protected minutes, toward the top left is less protected.

blue is positive, red is negative corsi rating
size of the dot is size of the corsi number

change the GP requirement to 5 or more, and the difference is magnified
