I would not say what Kings and Ducks fans have is feuding, just a inner-city rivalry, yeah I know two different cities and counties, but you know what I mean. The rivalry is supposed to be fun. It is supposed to bolster interest for both fan bases. I know you like both teams but that is rare. Both fan groups usually love one team and "hate" the other. I know some people get out of hand and I agree with you that is stupid. But a rivalry is a good thing when every one is cool.
It is my hypothesis that some Duck fans are fairly new to the whole "rivalry" thing and/or have a preconceived idea to who Kings fans are. Perhaps it is because they heard from some other Duck fans or they had a bad experience with a Dodger or Raider fan in the past and assume us Kings fans are cut from the same cloth. So they view King fans as lowlife thug a-holes and are offended that so many King fans show up in Anaheim and cheer so loudly for the "enemy team". So some Duck fans are wound a little tight, they are on high alert not to "take any crap from some black clad a-hole." Therefore some them overreact to any perceived slight from a Kings fan. They go overboard. They want to "win" in the first salvo and put us in our place. Some don't even want to wait for the "slight", they want to draw first blood, strike first and destroy us in a verbal "shock and awe" assault. "Ha, take that you L.A. Lowlife!" But more often than not they are so eager to insult us they fumble all over themselves and say really really dumb stuff.
Like I said, in the past, I have been talking to decent Duck fans and some other imbecile says something so stupid or insulting to me that the guys I am talking to get embarrassed and apologize to me. Or I have been walking to my seat or standing in a beer line minding my own business and some blockhead in a Ducks jersey says something, unprovoked I may add, stupid or nasty. And I know what you may be thinking "Yeah right, KP. You are just a paragon of virtue in these episodes right?" But I can honestly say yes, I am. I have a personal rule that I live by when I am at a game and dealing opposing fans: I never start it. I never am the first guy to sling an insult. I only respond and even then I try my best to keep it lighthearted and in good fun.
But as I said in my first post every time I have gone to Anaheim to watch a Kings/Ducks game some Duck fan always says something shockingly stupid to me.
