At this point of the season the Ducks have scoreboard over the Kings.

During their history, both have one Stanley Cup, sure it took a team 45 years and the other quite a bit less. Right now they are even and only this season counts now. Can't live in the past. The Kings need to wake up or they maybe watching the Ducks make a run this year.

Many athletes will tell you, you're only as good as your last game and the last Kings game was not that great.

The music is the same, the audience pranks are the same, teenagers shoot t-shirts made by slave labor into the crowd to generate false enthusiam. Long after Disney has exited the NHL, the product has continued to devolve into mass entertainment and the price a fan pays to access the product has risen both at the gate and on my satellite TV bill, with no appreciable increase in the quality of the core product itself (as witnessed by the incessant tweaks to game rules in order to increase scoring).

As a Kings fan for almost 20 years I feel like I'm living in a semi-fugue state with this franchise I have spent way too much time on (and money) over the years (not that I'd do anything different). On one hand, the on ice talent and the management team in charge of it are the best this franchise has ever had in its' history. I have witnessed them win a Cup, which I honestly thought would never happen. But at the same time, every time I go to Staples, I feel like most of the people there could give less than 2 craps about the team. And I've had this feeling for a few years now, where I almost enjoy watching at home more than making the trip down to Fig & Olympic. Maybe I'm just grumpy and getting older, but I feel like for the average fan, hockey felt more special before the ducks. Because now we are left with a niche sport that is packaged and sold in a way that has nothing to do with what made it special in the first place.

How bout over the years the joke for goalies they had. One little guy with leg pads the size of twin mattresses. One who had everyone pronounce his name as if he was French, or how bout Giggy who'd pitch fits like a little kid. Fans who began as Kings fans and switched to Ducks (aks Neil & co.)

Why? Because you say so? Because it does not meet your definition of a "rivalry"? Look, I actually agree with you that it should be just be more than reg.season games, there should be some history of playoff battles and the like to make a true rivalry. But the reality is that a lot of people on both sides think that there is a rivalry and they act like it is a rivalry. So guess what? It does not matter what you or I think if people thinks its a rivalry, then that is what it is.

Am I the only one picturing some guy in the Quebec league flying down the wing, perhaps one of mixed Vietnamese and French Canadian descent? Has to be wearing a high number too, something like 83 or 97.

Now I'm trying to imagine this guy talking **** at the Ponda, and all I can hear is a Mario Lessard interview from 1981.

I dunno, I think it's more of a case of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Stupid people don't differentiate between hockey teams. I've seen an equal share of stupid at the Pond and Staples.

Hey i gotta better rule, how about when kings fans come to ponda center for the game ,ponda center box office should make them buy tix for the next ducks home game too, basically what the chrgers did to raiders for the game in SD. that way if a guy in a ducks jersey told the kings fan not to take the elevator he won't make a thread about it . wait , i got 1 more rule.......... LA KINGS fans pay double the admission to disneyland ...

Are you a fan of both teams ? I just think its a courtesy.When I go to an Angel game I
am respectfull but on the other hand if you come to Dodger Stadium please don't wave a rally monkey in my face and be obnoxious about it.I've had this happen to me at a Dodger game.An Angel fan was yelling in my ear every play.I really wanted to slap her.I have not been to see the Ducks in a long time so I can't say how they are but the boy who said that was just rude.
