Money maybe, or just wants to play and stay sharp.
Since there is not going to be hockey played in the NHL for at least another 11 months go ahead and make some money elsewhere. If he does not want to play here, he might as well play somewhere to bring in a little money for his family. He did get his escrow check today so that should help.
sure beats the $600 a week he'd get in the ECHL

Swiss league is the most comfortable European option: a wealthy, tiny country (hardly any travel required), none too challenging opponents... Zhamnov did cite "lack of comfort" as one of the reasons why the Vityaz Chekhov deal may have flopped.

Huh? It's not as though playing in the NHL is an option right now, and he certainly wouldn't be playing overseas if it were. His choices were either play overseas or not play at all (other loosely organized practices and training sessions with other players renting ice time).
