Thread: Election Results and the effect on the LA Kings

I hope I am wrong, but I think after this last election, it will be even harder for the Kings to sign any big money free agents and re-sign star players.

With the passing of prop 30, we will have the highest state income tax at 12%. Put that together with a huge federal tax rate increase promised by the president and a strengthening Canadian Dollar against the US dollar, I fear most big money free agents will be heading north of the border.

I am putting a plea out to those saner and smarter LGKers to calm my growing fears that the Kings will be at a serious disadvantage in maintaing a cup contending team.

The core is already locked into long-term contracts.

Taxes have always been an issue for the Kings. I don't think this particular tax in and of itself is going to make a big difference. Canada also has a high income tax rate too so I'm not sure where you're going with that. If income taxes were the only thing that mattered, you'd see teams like the Panthers and Lightning signing all of the big free agents. New York City has a huge added municipal tax and that doesn't stop the Rangers from going crazy every July 1st

He's right... the Kings are going to have trouble securing the big name free agents that they've been REELING IN over the last decade due to this tax hike.

It's a little silly and hypocritical that 30 passes (which I'm fine with) but 38 gets destroyed (which would have brought the state/education system more money than 30).
