Well if they completely have no season then it is going to but a huge blow on the NHL. Since the winter Olympics, hockey has been growing in ratings and fans and even Game 6 of the finals I saw and read how high the ratings were. If the season ends, those new fans/on the fence fans may leave. I just think it is stupid they let it get this far on both sides knowing what can happen. They aren't the NFL or NASCAR where the fans will be back in full force if they went on a full season strike. Look what happened to the MLB awhile back along with the NHL and how it hit them hard.
The NHL has been getting new contracts and have been airing more and more games on national TV along with ESPN wanting in on the action now. Think they still will after a strike? What about the other major networks?
I don't see anyone here really talking about the seriousness of no season and the hit it could take on the NHL in general. Just seems like, oh well no pre-season or oh well no games until Dec. Even something like that will do damage.
Maybe I am overreacting some but I remember the last strike where it almost destroyed the NHL and now hearing players like Ovechkin and Nash saying there likely won't be a season, doesn't help much either.
