RIP Dr. Buss. He did so much for sports in LA and while not the greatest, is underrated as a Kings owner.
I was watching the Florida Panthers broadcast last night . . . I know, why the hell was I doing that???? Anyway, the between-periods-chick-reporter was giving a brief eulogy about Dr. Buss and mentioned that he was the owner of the Kings between 1979 and 1991(?), AND that during that period, the Kings went to the Stanley Cup Finals five times. Woah, was I in a different universe back in the '80s?
Lmao, I'd kill for a youtube of this.
I don't know how you get 5 trips to the SC finals. I thought maybe she crossed up the Lakers' appearances, as they won 5 titles then, but even that is a **** up because they had 9 appearances overall during that time span.
Either way, thanks for all the Campbell Conference Trophies, Florida.
Bob teared up pretty good between the first and second period of the Edmonton game recounting a story about Buss. Good stuff.
