First of all, the pre-game ceremony was awesome. I loved the fact that the players, after receiving their rings, skated to their "spot" and just stared at their rings. I mean, it was awesome, and I'm sure they were awestruck. Even saw a couple of guys sharing in the moment together...before the Ice Crew took them back for later.
The game rust was sure there...and that 2 man PP for the 'Hawks didn't help (the players were gassed...)
Enough about the game...now my off the ice negatives: What was up with the scoreboard? It kept showing both teams with the exact same SOGs...and when it was put up "Shots on the PP"....Hossa was listed for Kings and the 'Hawks. Got corrected late in second period (I think...I stoppped looking).
Secondly, must have been new sound people...because they were off...but again...first game...which can - I guess - be blamed for Dave Joseph. Sure, David Courtney was the BEST (that moment of silence...with 18,000 dead quiet...was very emotional...except for there's always one putz who feels the need to whistle)...but Joseph must have felt the nerves. One thing he (and his "staff") needs to fix is the looooong delay before calling out goals.
Now, I know on Scuds goal...it might have been tipped by Cliffy (it wasn't) so they had to check to make sure...but HELL...go with Scuds right away...correct later.
Worst was when the Kings scored to make it 4-2...the Hossa fired one past Quickie seconds later. A good 70 seconds went by BEFORE the Kings goal was announced.
Why am I b!tching so much? I don't know...but fans booing the PP was dumb. It's really our first ''formally known as our 1st pre-season game''...playin' without Kopi...and you boo.
I'll be there again on the 28th...just to be ready for another "review"...but it was good to see the guys again...listen to Pia...and see Bob Miller.
