LA Kings Insider with Jon Rosen

For more quotes, please go to Jon Rosen's blog at LA Kings Insider.

Darryl Sutter on what the team needs to do differently: "Well, you can’t get frustrated. You can’t allow guys that are playing really well to get frustrated, and guys that aren’t, you’ve got to see if they can work their way out of it. Obviously we’ve got a handful of guys that are really struggling with their games."

Drew Doughty on whether he notices anything now that wasn’t there for the team earlier in the year: "I don’t know if there’s anything in particular. We’re getting shots, actually, but we’re not screening them enough and we’re not getting rebounds. Besides that, the guys have just got to believe in themselves both individually and in the team, and I know everyone here believes in this team and this group of guys. We’ve just got to start now. We can’t go into the break losing games like this. We need to get on a winning streak."

Darryl Sutter on Robyn Regehr playing his 1,000th NHL game: “It’s good. You know what? Robyn is probably ahead of that, actually. If you asked him, he’s probably missed a couple hundred games with injuries, and with the injury that he had prior to his career, you’ve got to give him a lot of credit for him to continue to play that same way and be a really good role model for young players – the way he trains. It’s not just the game. Obviously he’s not the player that he was. That’s what happens as you get older. But the role model part of it is really important. It’s good for other players, especially young players, to see that.”

Drew Doughty on whether it’s “bittersweet” to see his friend, Wayne Simmonds, score for Philadelphia: “No, it’s whatever. Simmer’s a good player. He’s really producing a lot there in Philadelphia. They’re a high scoring team, and we expected them to try and pop a few tonight. Whatever. He got one.”

Darryl Sutter on the Kopitar line’s performance in Saturday’s game: “They had the puck a lot. They played in the O-zone a lot. They made the good plays coming out of their zone. They were connected to the defensemen really well. I think for the most part we did that as a team. [Reporter: Toffoli had a career high in shots, the second highest minutes he’s ever had in a game. What was he adding to Kopitar’s line?] Hopefully he adds some finish.”

Tyler Toffoli on the team's scoring problems and how to fix it: ''We just need that dirty goal. I think we had chances to bury them tonight and couldn't finish them, so we've really got to bear down. It's time to get back on track. It's just two games before the (Olympic) break, so we've got to get ourselves going in the right direction.''

Darryl Sutter on whether the team has been looking ahead to the break: “I don’t think so. I don’t think that looking ahead has anything to do with that. I think our guys do a pretty good job on a day-to-day basis of preparing for their next opponent, not looking too far ahead. [Reporter: Is it too hard not to, though, when you have something that big coming up?] What’s so big coming up? [Reporter: Well, you have six guys going to the Olympics.] Every team has four-to-10, and every team has guys that they think could be playing better, or more, or different. Not really, no.”

Wayne Simmonds on scoring against the Kings: ''I've been sitting on 99 for five games, so it felt good to get it. I got my first one here and my 100th in this building, so it was pretty nice. I've been playing with great linemates and I've been really determined this year.''

Wayne Simmonds on playing against the Kings: ''It was a little bit difficult, obviously, not knowing anything else in the NHL. The Kings gave me an opportunity to play in this league, and I'm forever grateful for that. But once you get traded, it's a business and immediately you've got to try and forget about it. I gave my heart to the Kings, and now my heart's with the Flyers. I bleed orange now, and that's the way it's going to be. It was nice to see some familiar faces, but there are no friends when you lace up the skates.''

Special thanks to the following people who help made the GDT what it is today:
Rink Dawg, KingsWord, Blueline, and all of you for taking the time to look at it!

The GDT is the best place for die-hard Kings fans to cheer, vent, & discuss all things Kings related during the game.
So why bother with social media where you're practically just talking to yourself?

Hopefully we have an easier time scoring than the Broncos did. Go Kings go!

72-0 hawks. Kane with 68, Zeus with a hat trick and Muzzin pots the other.

0-61 Kings. Hat tricks for everybody in the lineup, including Quick. Sutter, Payne, and Stevens each score a goal from the bench. The Staples netting also scores a goal.

As a result the Kings' team shooting percentage rockets all the way up to 6.1%.

    How about 1 goal first?

    Baby steps.

You don't want them to blow their goal-scoring wad all in one game, as if that's gonna happen against Chicago.

    Bold prediction:

Kings will lose this game by a score of 3-0.

They will, however, outshoot the mighty Blackhawks and take the moral victory.

    Onto the next game.
