which is why I am glad we won last year. Honestly even if we had won a game already I would have thought it would be hard to repeat. There is a reason only two teams have done that in the history of the NHL...

Wait. 5 plus a goalie? I thought it was 6 minus a goalie. These are hockey players not mathematicians!!!

Yes, there have been generations of cubs fans who have not seen success.... Red sox fell under that catagory before 2004

Of course I want them to repeat but odds are against them. It has been like 15 years. Even teams like mighty Pens and Wings failed to do so. Its the nature of the game and league. I am a realist and I don't expect my teams to win the championship every year.

While I'm disgusted by the effort and overall tentativeness the Kings appear to be playing with, lets put things in perspective...

They are the Stanley Cup Champions. We all hoped they wouldn't be hungover but it's clear they are. I accept this now.

This is a half-season. The Kings had one week of camp. Yes, so did the rest of the league, but it took the Kings virtually all of last season to play to form. That's just how they function.

Mitchell and Green were out. These guys are top Dmen on ANY team.

I'm pissed about the loss (happy that Edmonton got into OT because that was a bs call). I didn't expect this much of a lack of urgency from the Kings, but I'm also new to being a fan of the championship team.

But there's NO WAY I start trading players this season, unless its a deal I just can't refuse. This season will be for the teams that learn to play as a unit the fastest, not for teams that spent the summer partying, celebrating victory.

I'm filing a missing persons report on Brown in the morning. Will let you all know what I find out.

Not true. Besides the Red Wings and Canadiens, the Penguins won back to back in the early 90's, the Oilers won a pair of back-to-back cups in the 80's, and the Islanders won 4 straight in the early 80's. Granted, the era of the dynasty is long gone, and repeating is incredibly difficult, especially nowadays.

Brown was clutch after the deadline last season but I still think we can move him in an effort to get a sniper. Players like Nash and Kovi are able to take matters into their own hands in games like this. They don't need to be team players all the time.
