Facts on the Fly: 1/28/2013 Vancouver Canucks @ Los Angeles Kings
    (Brought to you by Rawley19)

Season series: This is the first of three meetings between the teams. They split a four-game season series in 2011-12.

Big story: The defending Stanley Cup champs enter Monday’s action seven points behind the San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division. Furthermore, the Kings – who have one win in four tries -- have scored only eight goals.

    Team Scope:

Canucks: Vancouver was no match for the red-hot Sharks on Sunday night, as San Jose cruised past the Canucks by a 5-1 score at HP Pavilion. Alexandre Burrows had the lone goal for Vancouver, which allowed two goals in the first 3:26 of the contest.

"Power play wasn't as good," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said of his club’s man advantage, which went 0-for-7 Sunday night. "We were unable to score. A couple of unforced errors that ended up right on their tape and in the back of the net."

Kings: After getting off to an 0-2-1 start, Los Angeles finally earned its first win of the season Saturday night with a 4-2 victory at Phoenix. Anze Kopitar scored twice for the Kings, who won for the first time since hoisting the Stanley Cup last June.

"No one in here thought we were going to go 0-48, but when you lose the first three you sure don't want to let things get away," forward Justin Williams said. "It's been seven months and things don't come back at the snap of a finger. But it was time to win a game and get a little pressure off."

Injury report: Vancouver is still without center Ryan Kesler, who's recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, and forward David Booth (groin). … Kings defenseman Matt Greene, who underwent back surgery on Thursday, has been placed on injured reserve by the Kings and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Fellow blueliner Willie Mitchell (knee surgery) is practicing and is close to returning.

Who's hot: Daniel Sedin leads the Canucks with six points (two goals, four assists) through the club’s first five games. … Kings forward Kyle Clifford has a goal and four assists in four contests.

Justin Williams talks about the short season: “It is about saving energy but it is more about saving your body. It is about resting and treating your ailments, the nicks and bruises. You are trying maintain yourself… but that is hockey.”

Anze Kopitar on his return after the injury: “In terms of timing it can be you trying to do too much too fast. You stop and you realize it can come slower. That makes a big difference.”

Darryl Sutter on his top forwards scoring: “Kopi was good tonight… The goal-scorers scored. Carts had one too. That’s what wins the game.”

Darryl Sutter on Jake Muzzin: “I didn’t know it was his first NHL goal. But he hit the net. We talked about that yesterday privately and [to the media]. D hitting the net.”

Jake Muzzin on his first NHL goal: “Cliffy made a real nice pass up high through a guys stick to me, which gave me a lot of time and then I let a little wrister at the net and it found a way in…I didn’t really see it go in, but when the guys came over we all kind of had a little laugh because it was one of those hope wristers that floated through. It’s a good feeling to get your first NHL goal, but to get the win here is more important.”

I hope they bring their A game against Vancouver. Out of all the teams in the league, nothing brings me great pleasure (w/exceptions of course) than seeing them lose and reading the WTS afterwards.

kick some ass! go kings! and thanks TC for an awesome gdt

This arrogant bastard will be at the game! I will be drunk, but respectful, and I'm already drunk. No lie. I went to the Office Bar after playing hockey tonight.
To Dexter, P. Diddy, and TooCool; no jersey for me at this game.
That's all I got for now.

Default ***GDT - Vancouver Canucks @ Los Angeles Kings - 01/28/13*** (7:30 PM)

Two Sedins and still no cup....
A team of divers and whiners....
    Borat between the pipes....
The most disrespectful fans in the league....

The boys need to come out and play 60 minutes of in your face hard nosed hockey. Vancouver still doesn't take the Kings seriously. They believe it was a fix or a fluke. Please put them on their asses.

Nothing brings me more entertainment than reading the WTS thread after a Vancouver loss. Their fans are off shoots of the Iraqi Minister of Information. Get on the board early and keep the pressure on.

    Go Kings Go!!!
