Getting to the Game: Tips and Tricks for Taking Transit

Took the train for the first time in a few years. They might have made some improvements because it felt way faster than before.

I used the Gold Line on the Sierra Madre Villa at around 9:45 AM. Immediately saw like 30+ Kings fans on it which made it fun to begin with. Hell, I wasn't sure where to go but following the Kings fans made it SO much easier. But anyway, each stop only took like 10 seconds. I remember before, we had to stop at each stop for like more than a minute and that's probably why I didn't like it.

Switched over to the Red Line on Union Station... and I was prepared to walk to Staples from there. But then we saw the Blue Line just waiting for us, so a lot of us went, "Screw walking, lets take this train, might as well!"

I got inside Staples at around 11 AM... which left plenty of time to spare. The ride home felt like the ride of shame (for some reason). Everyone was gloomy and I was kinda bummed out because there was no way to listen to Kings Talk on the train.

But thanks to all who posted advice and whatnot. I'll definitely take the train again without hesistation in the future should something crazy happen downtown again. I'll take the train if we have a football stadium built for sure.

The last time I took the Blue Line it was the only train going south from the Pico Station. After the game I wasn't paying attention and found out the hard way there are now two lines going south, the Long Beach Blue Line and the Expo (Light Blue) Line. Got on the first train that showed up and then on the run south it hit an underground portion, that I didn't remember seeing when I took the Blue Line in the morning, and then I noticed that I didn't recognize the stops. I got off, looked at a map, and realized my mistake. Backtracked back to the Pico Station, ignored the "La Cienega" train that came first, and waited for the "Long Beach" train. No big shakes, but I need to pay more attention next time.

I got on the wrong train as well but I realized it just as the train left the Pico station. I got off at the first stop and walked a couple of blocks to the correct station, so it wasn't a big deal.

The train back was really crowded but I had a nice conversation with one of the "locals." It turned out to be pretty pleasant but with the combination of the train and drive, it took me an hour longer than normal.

Props to the Sheriffs and metro workers. They did a good job in organizing the crowds, including selling return home tickets ahead of time and answering questions.

Did the Red Line from NoHo, go there waaay early. Saw the conclusion of the bike race, at least. The ride back was pretty damn crowded, but all in all not a bad experience. Wish the crowd didn't have such a good reason to be subdued, though.

I've been taking the Red Line(infrequenetly) from Universal to Staples for the past 3 seasons. Yesterday was, by far, the busiest I've ever seen it. That being said, everything went very smoothly.

I live in Chino Hills. I was going to take the Metrolink from the Industry station to LA, but that line is closed on Weekends, so we drove to Fullerton and took the Orange County line to LA. It was a nice ride, and there were a lot of Kings fans. I got to meet OC Kingsfan, and we got to talk on the way to LA.

It took a lot longer to get there by rail, but it was a great experience, and I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Took the Red Line in from North Hollywood and it was pretty great. The ride back was packed all the way from Downtown, but it was pretty cool to feel like LA has a well running light rail public transportation system.

Tre West!! It was cool to meet you hopefully we can all meet up again and catch a game. The Metro experience was pretty cool and I will do it again, no complaints.

I took EXPO line too. It was easier to get parking at la cienega/jefferson. thanks for the info.
