Im thinking about taking the Metrolink to the game next Saturday and it says its a 48 minute walk from the station to Staples on google maps. Can anyone tell me if this is a realistic time limit, and if this is an ok route to take at night after the game?
Where are you coming from? You can take the Redline (subway) from union station to the 7th/Metro station and walk down figeroa (south) to staples or you can take the blue line (light rail) from the 7th/metro station one stop to the PICO stop and walk from there. No need to walk from Union station unless you really need the excercise. The Red and Blue lines run late but most metrolink trains stop running before the games end so you may want to make sure you're not stuck at Union station.
Thanks for the help but I am unable to find a route that would take me back home so Ill be skipping that game and just wait till I can find someone who has a car
Unfortunately, Metrolink is geared primarily towards the Monday-Friday, 9-to-5 crowd, and so it's not very useful for going to evening events. Sometimes they'll run special service for huge events (i.e. U2 concert at Angel Stadium), but not for the run-of-the-mill evening hockey game it seems.
Hey - I live in Ventura. Anyone know where I have to drive to in order to take the Metro? It's 55 minutes driving with no traffic, but I'd hate to be stuck in Metro no mans land at 11 pm.
Taking Amtrak or Metrolink to a game from Ventura is likely not possible. Metrolink picks up in Moorpark, but their last return train to Ventura Co leaves LAUS (Los Angeles Union Station) at 6:40 PM. You can get to LAUS from Moorpark (leave Moorpark at 4:57, arrives at 6:20), but then no way back. See sched below for more Metrolink info:Quote:

Hey, if you drive, you WILL have (likely heavy) traffic on the way down, but going home should be wide open. 55 minutes is still quite an "optimistic" (ok, impossible) time estimate from Staples to Ventura, but it appears there is no train option for Ventura Co.
One Metro option would be to drive to Universal Studios station, jump on red line subway to LAUS, then blue line to Staples. Then reverse after the game. Not sure if you'd save much time though.
No need to go all the way to Union station , get off 7th street station and take blue line to Pico or just walk from 7th and FigQuote:
