Default Goalie Seating Arrangement at Islanders Building...

So...is the visitors bench smaller than the home bench? Is that why Jones had to sit two sections over from the team?
Or are his pads too big to squeeze in?
Or was there no chair leading to the back hallway...or is there no back hallway?

    Reaction...

Bench area just isn't big enough to accommodate the b/u goalie, never has been. A lot of the old arenas had quirks like that, some specifically designed to inconvenience the visiting team. I'm not sure if both teams had to hike up a flight of stairs in Chicago, but the visitors definitely did.

I think it was the old Pittsburgh Igloo that the visiting backup goalie pretty much got dressed in a small closet of the locker room.

I think The SAP Center is the same way. Talk about isolation

There were quite a few Kings fans in attendance last night. Hope to see more of the same at the Rock and the Gahden.

Just like at Frozen Fury. I've sat next to Budaj, Giguere, and Varlamov numerous times thanks to that.

I've been in some minor league arenas on the east coast that had so little room that seats close to the aisle or behind the bench were used by the visiting team.

If memory serves me correctly, I think the visiting B/U sat on the opposite side of the rink of his teams bench in Quebec.
