Thread: Goaltending rotation

Some people are suggesting that Quick may play a smaller percentage of games this season because of its condensed nature, but I don't see it happening.

Check out how Sutter handled his goalies during the lockout shortened 94-95 season:

I think Sutter will ride which ever goalie is standing on his head and winning games.

Sutter also said in the presser last night (paraphrasing) that its a different league, with different rules, and different players. So looking back at something that happened almost two decades ago isn't a great way to compare things.

Considering Quick is coming off back surgery and presumably isn't up to game form yet (I actually don't know how much he's been able to work out), I could certainly see the team playing Bernier more in the early part of the season. It's not like he's some slouch. People quoted Lombardi at the press conference yesterday as saying that Bernier will be integral to the Kings chances of repeating this season, so that could certainly imply that he's going to see more time on the ice this season.

How different is the league for goalies though?

Even if you do take him at his word, his own history has repeatedly shown that he prefers to play one goalie the vast majority of the season.

Kind of pointless to talk about other coaches in this thread, no?

Honestly with a post surgery quick nobody knows what will happen. Just hope like hell he's gotten enough rest to play 42 of 48.
