Apparently the Devils are looking to trade a defenseman for a forward. The Kings might be able to make that happen. Some people were mentioning Volchenkov or Tallinder. Trading for Volchenkov would pretty much mean not re-signing Scuderi, though.

Someone also suggested Mike Weber for Richardson. That sounded like a good deal. Weber was second on the Sabres in hits last year. Sounds like he's a physical, defensive-minded third-pairing guy. Could be a good replacement.

correct but the timing sure did make it easier for him to get claimed. NYI ended up claiming Finley, Hickey and Brian Strait, in that order. Had Hickey been waived on the last day of camp, like Bodnarchuk, there's a good chance that NYI wouldn't have claimed him.

Default Greene done for the year??

Willie Mitchell and now Matt Greene. As mentioned earlier,I hope Mitchell comes back soon and Muzzin can somewhat fill Greene's skates until the Kings can get a top 6 defenseman in a trade or Muzzin can show Kings management that they don't need to make a trade.

Yup. And I can only hope that Muzzin plays as well as Alec did in his second go-round. Although I certainly have my doubts.

I was in such denial of this initially that it took me till the 3rd page of the thread before it hit me this was real. I didn't want to believe it. I still don't. Damn.

I am guessing if they are calling it a back injury so soon after the injury and calling him out for the year, this has to be structural and requiring surgery.

The problem with that is now we're down an entire pair of defensemen for what looks to be a month, and then longer for Greene.

Volchenkov and Tallinder are both left shots. Greener was a right.

There's a really good reason why Lombardi has always been trying to keep a plethora of them on our club.

Komisarek is actually starting to look good to me right now...
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Remember when people scoffed at the Kings interest in Wade Redden?

Komisarek sure seems like a viable option, especially when you factor in our ability to buy out the final year of his contract come this July.
