    Default guess who's still playing?

    In Brust, we still trust?

Nothing against Brust himself, but the name brings back horrible memories of '06-'07 when the Kings 1) were at the start of the rebuild 2) were, as a result of said rebuild, horrible and 3) had a revolving door in net. Dark days indeed. Now, despite the lockout, I can still rejoice in the fact that "The Kings, are the Kings!!!" - Mike Emrick, June 11, 2012.

06/07 was awful, but 05/06 was even worse. On new year's day 2006 -- the halfway point of the first season after the lockout -- the team was 25-14-2. They won their next two games to give them 56 points after 43 games and the best record in the NHL. They then proceeded to take a massive dump, earning only 33 points the rest of the season, and finishing 8 points behind eventual Western Conference champ Edmonton. VERY dark days.

I believe part of the tank was due to the Winter Olympics. Our top line of Frolov-Conroy-Demitra all got hurt in the Olympics and weren't the same until it was too late

True enough, but the wheels started to fall off before the Olympics, specifically when they lost a game to Buffalo in mid-January by a score of 10-1. Until that point, Kings fans (and perhaps players as well) could have entertained thoughts of being a serious Stanley Cup contender. After that debacle, no way, no how. Speaking of dark days, really it was dark years, from 1993 until about 2010, when the rebuild was starting to bear fruit. (2001 was a lone bright spot).

That's nothing. Fukufuji is riding a six-game shutout streak at an air hockey table at the miniature golf course just outside of Osaka.

They weren't the same because Murray refused to put them back together, the fool.
