" Cornered" by Ron McLean was a good read.
If you have a kid playing youth hockey "So Your Son Wants to Play in the NHL" and "So You Want to Play in the NHL" by Dan and Jay Blysma would be pretty good reads for both of you
This is widely considered the best hockey book ever. Ken Dryden is a superb writer.

George Plimpton did a series of books where he suited up for profesional sports teams and wrote about the experience.

If you want to read an interesting book about how the NHL owners and Alan Eagleson really screwed over the players when Eagleson was head of the NHLPA.
