The Kings were lousy in the earlier part of the season last year. They don't have time to lose.It will be embarrasing if they don't make the playoffs

Wonder if Sutter goes with Richardson. Brad's an energy guy, maybe he can juice something up?
Penner looked better than Brown, kopitar, Williams, Richards and King until the penalties and turnover(s). Well, the effort was there at least.
Positive notes:
Besides a couple bad reads, Doughty has been boss.
Quick looked a little more... Quick.
DD2 was serviceable. Looked great for a guy that played a handful of games in the last year.
Voynov is still a boss.
Lewis, Stoll, Nolan, Clifford, Fraser all get a pizza party.
How about Clifford with the center ice strip and breakaway?
How does that idiom go?
Something about a broken clock.
Last night's game was not as painful to watch as the first game. As long as the Kings keep going in that direction, then I'm fine. They just need some time to dust off the cobwebs.
I think it was you and I that were having a little love fest over the 4th line last week (it's to late for me to go back through my posts and check, but I am pretty sure) and so far they have been the best line the Kings have been able to put on the ice.
Fraser is Fraser, Nolan is making progress, the real surprise for me has been Clifford, I am happy to say that his play in the first two games has me totally reevaluating him, now if only Kopi can spend a little time teaching him how to get a shot around a goal tender on a quick break.
Penner....Where to start, okay, the whole second line is playing blah, but seriously, as I said in the Kings/AVS thread, the Kings may as well bench him until the play offs come around, yes I know it's early, but we saw the same type of play from him last year, he got a one year deal based on his play in the play offs, but he doesn't have that luxury this year, the Big Red Dog is gunning for his spot.
Muzzin was a nice surprise last night, I was expecting a couple of hair brain plays, but from what I saw he played a pretty solid game, the extra couple of years in Manchester paid dividends.
FTFY.
It's like people forgot how bad this team was during the regular season.
I don't know why anyone expects anything different out of Penner. He is who he is and he's been this guy since he left Anaheim. Same with Carter...he might score 25 goals but I bet half will be meaningless.
Someone mentioned inserting Gagne into Penner's spot and then moving Clifford up to the second line to inject some energy into that line. Gagne fills Clifford's spot on 4th line. It is a big deal to jack with the 4th line's chemistry right now as it is the only line working but they have to get something out of the first and second line. That first line will come around soon - last night they had a decent cycle going a couple of times and Kopitar will get his timing back soon. It is the second line that needs to get moving and they have to inject some energy there somehow.
We will see - but they need to get up early on a young Edmo team to dishearten them a bit - just like the Sharks did last night - and get a W. I would never say "must win" but this next game is as close as it gets. They need to get a winning attitude going again and they can't afford to fall too far behind a determined SJ and (dare I say it) ANA squads.
