only players doing anything right now is the players that played in the AHL/ECHL.. they should have been able to send the whole team down to the farm during lockout. Last night everytime cliffy was on the ice I just thought GIVE HIM THE PUCK! top 9 need to wake the eff up.
sidenote: why did they sit gagne out last night?
Oh my was Penner bad again last night! He needs to wake up quickly with Richardson and Gagne watching from the PB. One thing I noticed that made me uneasy was the amount of odd number attacks the Avs were getting. Too many 3 on 2's. The forwards have got to be smarter and minimize this like they did last season. As someone earlier mentioned in a nutshell: Game 1: ****ty. Game 2: Better, but still needs improvement. The top 6 needs to find the back of net tomorrow night.
To bad we don't have our 1st round pick this year.
For all the crap people give him, I think Doughty has looked great so far this year. I think he has been a bright spot in the first two games.
We're still sticking it to the Flyers, so there's that.
Penner is in mid season form....the problem is we need him to be in post season form.
They weren't bad from the end of March through to the playoffs, where they lost only 5 games.
Parts of the last 2 games, he was fine.Originally Posted by jt

Its not a must win by any means. We will see - but they need to get up early on a young Edmo team to dishearten them a bit - just like the Sharks did last night - and get a W. I would never say "must win" but this next game is as close as it gets. They need to get a winning attitude going again and they can't afford to fall too far behind a determined SJ and (dare I say it) ANA squads.
Even the 3rd and 4th lines were suspect for the 1st 10 minutes of the 3rd.
Where would you have played him? Instead of Penner.why did they sit gagne out last night?
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
