Whoever else might be out of shape due to the lockout, you must admit that LGK is in mid-season form. What lockout?

As long as Penner shows up for the playoffs, I don't care what he does during the season. Talking about this regular season stuff is so frustrating. I wish we could just fast forward through this nonsense and get to the playoffs. I mean we're talking about the regular season. I know it's important, but it's still just the regular season. There should be some exemption like you have in golf and tennis; if you win the Cup you get to go straight to the playoffs.
"Lightning in a bottle".
And if a "game" was "parts of games", his play would be fine and I'd be fine. It's not and he's not so I'm not.Parts of the last 2 games, he was fine.
...and yet they worked harder than the ~$28M worth of players on the top 2 lines.Even the 3rd and 4th lines were suspect for the 1st 10 minutes of the 3rd.
Look, I expected this...I'm really just surprised that everyone didn't. This was a mediocre team that got amazing goaltending, had great health, got awesome play from their Captain, and scored WAAAAY too many KEY shorthanded goals to think that playoff success would carry over. Frankly, I'm flabbergasted (yes, flabbergasted) that so many hockey "experts" think they have any serious shot at repeating. I'll be stunned if they make it to the 3rd round and surprised if they make it to the 2nd round...but not at all surprised if they miss the playoffs. And it's got nothing to do with them sucking for the first two games.
That quote ain't from me.Where would you have played him? Instead of Penner.

I'm not surprised by Clifford's play. I'm surprised by those who didn't expect it.
If you look at the playoffs a couple years back, the kid was a beast. He didn't have his best season last year, but his work ethic and love for the game (and team) seem unmatched. His off games weren't from lack of trying, they were from lack of skill and experience. Those will get better with time. If he keeps this up (which I expect) and stays healthy, he can be huge for this team.
Although riding a hot goalie, etc., apply, mediocre team is a bit harsh. I didn't expect them to start 0-2, but the proclamation of a Third Reich of Kings Hockey was a bit overdone. I think the possibility continues to exist, it's just not preordained. The Rags are 0-2 and the Philadelphia Kings are 0-3.
Typical game 2 inconsistency. Far better than game 1, upside you had Doughty and Voynov both looking solid and we have the best 4th line in the NHL, downside Mike Richards looks slow as hell and Pancakes was useless.
There were a few long stretches where we looked like Stanley Cup Defenders, unfortunately those stretches only netted us one goal and then we ran out of steam in the third.
Line by Line
Stoll King Lewis line looked a lot better but couldn't finish any plays (they had several grade A chances)
Richards Carter Penner - Jeff Carter is the only guy on that line that had any effort last night.
Brown Kopitar Williams - Had some really great cycles but couldn't finish especially in the first period
We have to build up to that 60 minute effort at 110%, we are not there yet, and we probably won't be for another 4 or 5 games.
