After the 1st two games I would say "mediocre" is a compliment.

It sure wasn't easy last year, but yeah, it'll be harder this year because they won it. EVERY person I've ever heard talk about repeating says it...once you've reached the top it's alot harder for some people because it takes SO much out of you and SO much sacrifice.

I would say 70 games is more than a start and that's exactly the problem. This team was mediocre for pretty much that whole 70 games, even immediately after Sutter was hired. They just put it all together to finish the season and win in the playoffs. That stuff happens in sports and it happened with the Kings.

And I'm not focusing on these two games at all...I'm focusing on those 70 games and seeing these two games as a continuation of those games.........
You got a bit of Tom Joad in you.

I think a mediocre team would have won tonight. They even got a mulligan!

Effort IMO was somewhere between the Hawks game and the Avs game. They will get run out of the building Saturday if they play like they did tonight.

    This team should know better.

Not worried. Three games in, come on now. Look slow but whatever. I don't expect them to repeat anyhow since that takes a miracle now a days. Thy will make playoffs and lose in Conference finals.

slump is slump, lots of guys out there looking like they aren't quite ready to play. the bad news is with the short schedule they better wake up soon. I don't think the Kings are a mediocre team, they're a Cup contender, the reality is there are what 5-8 teams maybe more who can win now and it comes down to who gets the bounces, stays healthy, rises to occasion etc. You can't build a Stanley Cup winner, you can only build a Stanley Cup contender. Can't stack the team Avs/Detroit style anymore. Look who could legitimately win this year? Boston, Pittsburgh, NYR, Chicago, St. Louis, San Jose, LA, Vancouver then you can even look at Detroit, Philly, NJ... That's a lot of teams. It's obvious the Kings were getting too much hype coming in, they're in that group not above it.

You can see this team in the way Sutter is dressed. Silver tipped belt. Loose tie. Stop going downtown and get back to the suits that look like they came with a racing form for the love of God.
