Thread: I think I have PTSD

Living with a team who made four decades of my life incomplete, and finally winning it all gave me a form of Post Traumatic Stanley Disorder. Reading the paper today and seeing these words: "... and the defending Stanley Cup champions beat the Colorado Avalanche, 4-1..." was an epiphany for me. It was if trumpets blared and John Facenda spoke the words "defending Stanley Cup champions". It took this long to sink in.

You mean this? - "The frozen tundra of the staples center rink, where gladiators with crowns on their chests, hoisted the Holy Grail high into their Kingdom..."

Yeah, I'm with ya. To be honest, I still don't think its really, really sunk in all the way yet and I'm 36 years into this team. Its cool though. It'll slow simmer in its own juices until one day.....

Still hasn't sunk in yet for me.

One reason I can think of...I didn't expect it.

Other seasons I was thinking, "This is the year".

some people actually hAve ptsd. i know many of them

Being at Game 6 when it happened didn't quite convince me it was real. Every moment of the playoff run was a "where were you at that exact moment experience".

The day it really sunk in and the goosebumps came in waves was going to replica ring give away night. I didn't have tickets to that game until the night before and was still unsure if I was going to make it. Late in the evening the night before I checked TM to see if anything was open and the exact same two seats I had bought for game six magically dropped on TM.

Sitting down in 216 with my replica ring in hand brought back a massive flood of memories that had only seemed like a dream all summer.
