Are you saying you can't go 2.5-3 hours without eating (or that it's "hard" to do so)? To be sure, I buy my fair share of in-arena food and drink (esp. when my kids are with me), and I gripe about the prices and poor service too, but it's completely a choice and not at all hard to abstain if you choose to do so for whatever reason.
I'm not saying its not doable but you really aren't sticking it to them imo if you are still there. How do you park ? Do you park in one of the independent lots? I like to buy food at Staples maybe because food options are diff than at Dodger Stadium but the lines if anything would stop me from not buying food.It was horrible during the rally.I just bought beer.I didn't go to enough games last year due to finances to get to the point where I got tired of the food and prices etc..

Doable versus hard. It seems to me it's pretty easy. If you want the food sold at Staples, you'll pay the prices. It's no different than paying $7.50 for 50 cents worth of popcorn, oil/butter, and salt at a movie theater. Everyone's got a tipping point when it comes to food at a sports venue, movie theater, concert hall, etc. In the past, I've been willing to pay $20 for a hot dog, popcorn, and a soda. And yes, I park in an independent lot because I'd rather save the money and walk a little ways.

As far as "sticking it to them," while I'm not privy to the terms of the contracts between the concession vendors and whichever Anschutz entity owns Staples Center, I strongly suspect that any sort of concerted action by fans that involved a boycott of concessions will hurt the vendors FAR more than it hurts Anschutz. That's the problem with these sorts of "let's stick it to them" actions. You have to be careful that you're not "sticking it to" someone other than your intended target.

not to sound like a pessimist but give it time. If they cancel the full season I bet there will be some drops. I know the two guys I go with in the 300s are both considering canceling for good if that happens and just cherry picking games they want to see for the future. I'm not going to lie I've considered it myself this time around is significantly more annoying than the past.

By your logic, wouldn't the fans flocking back to baseball on account of steroid inflated power numbers be an unwise use of the fans' money? If so, how do you explain the fact that baseball has not lost any games to strike or lockout since 1994? Why is there a correlation between the fans using their money unwisely and work stoppages in hockey but not in baseball?
Well...yeah, I suppose if the fans don't go back, the NHL will fold and, hence, there will be no more lockouts.
This is an interesting debate. There is no doubt the fan action etc. set the MLB straight. Part of the NHL's script here is knowledge that they'll have their revenue when the league returns. If they didn't they'd run scared. That said, by doing so you do give power to the players. While I think the owners are being awful this time around the last thing this league needs is to turn into the MLB. luxury tax and only a few good teams with a bunch of feeders? No thanks Ill keep my hard salary cap and eventual 50/50 split. The key is to set up a situation where the owners won't try to make this power play every CBA. How that happens I don't know I just wish both sides would negotiate out of good faith instead of trying to Win. Also would negotiate earlier and more often instead of the nonsense going on now.

That's one of the reasons I'm completely apathetic to the league and the PA. After 2005 I would have said there's no way the league and the PA would do that again. It would be beyond all comprehension. Well, today there's nothing to suggest that the league won't lockout every 7 years or the players won't strike if they want. What's the use in getting others into the sport if the NHL is just gonna pi** on all the fans every time the CBA expires?

I still have my love of the game. I love playing hockey and I will continue to do so until my body quits. As for the NHL? I'll be watching from afar. Still haven't spent one cent on Kings stuff since the St Louis series.

Me, I'll still go to the games on my miniplan (even if it's next season). But a big no on merchandise, and I'll arrive as full as possible.
