The lady handing out samples by Escalator #2 at Century City stopped me.
    "WHAT IS THAT SHIRT?"
    "The Kings...hockey...?"
"EVERYONE I SEE IS WEARING THAT SHIRT!"
    Don't turn around, wo-ao!
    Der Kopitar's in town, wo-ao!

I still say it begins with the school systems and introducing Hockey to the kids when young. As of now, I believe the only exposure they get there is to volley ball, basketball, baseball, and football. How about Hockey?
Oh and off topic....my avatar is the orig. Lord Stanley Cup, stored in a vault at the former Bank of Montreal Bldg. which has served as the home of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Stanley donated the cup to Canada in 1893.
This from a page in the mag. you buy at the HHOF.

Default Idea for expanding NHL hockey fan base in LA. Trade K.

I can't believe how many legit responses the op got. I think I might have lost brain cells reading it.

You want to expand the Kings fanbase?

Win more Cups, and move the Ducks to Portland or Seattle.

You can't be serious. You say, "With him we would still be fighting for the cup..." but it would be maybe fighting but not necessarily winning the cup. Just because Crosby is the media darling, ala Gretzky, that doesn't mean he would make a team successful, again ala Gretzky who didn't win a cup in LA. Crosby stated publically he didn't want to travel more when questioned about a more balanced travel schedule across the league so I doubt he would be happy, and that could cause trouble. A bigger issue, would he fit into the locker room? I'll stay with the cohesive group we have who play for each other. Also, let's not forget that having the Ducks in our backyard takes a chunk out of what could potentially have been part of the Kings fanbase.

I was thinking of answering the OP, but in just reading it, I believe that I, too, have lost some cerebral capacity in the endeavor.
