The only way a boycott works is of you don't go back at all. Like the league and the players give a s*** that you bought your new hat and sweater three months later than you were gonna buy it anyway. It all ends up as HRR.

And the tickets? I think Toronto will sell out regardless and that Phoenix has been boycotting the Coyotes for yeeeears.

That's the thing. People in markets where there are waiting lists for season tickets aren't going to get rid of them entirely. Even if they were going to boycott, they'd just list their tickets on sites like Stub Hub and some other sucker who can't normally get tickets will go.

I wouldn't go that far and boycott as many cancelled games, but I hope people do for maybe the first week if hockey comes back. (Except for the Kings game to raise the banner because that will be the first time ever but a few games after that) Us fans honestly need to make a stand as well and show them this crap won't be tolerated anymore. Selling out stadiums the day it comes back shows them they can just do this again, which will happen with Bettman and Fehr. But no not 10, 15+ games. Plus I'm not saying don't watch it on TV, just don't give them any of our money for a week to show how it hurt us when after all without us fans there is NO NHL.

I don't think it's dumb; just pointless. There is a lot of anger out there but it would be a drop in a 55 gallon drum.

The awards aren't dumb, only the awardees.

So just like the gas boycotts. Don't buy your gas on Tuesday; buy it on Monday and Wednesday instead. That'll teach those oil companies a lesson!

    No, no it won't.

Here's the thing. The NHL knows that fans are pissed. So does the PA and all of the players. So efforts to "show [them] how it hurt us" are sort of like preaching to a smoker that smoking is unhealthy. Not only do they know we're pissed, they do care. While I realize that a significant number of players might not be terribly well educated, and while many folks (myself included) have slung all sorts of insults at Bettman and Fehr, et al., neither the players nor the PA nor the owners nor league personnel are truly dribbling morons. They understand that the league wouldn't exist and they wouldn't be making the money they make without "great fans." But they have priorities and make value judgments that are independent from the value judgments you and I make, and they obviously have concluded that the positive results of what they're now doing will more than offset the negatives. Are they right or wrong? I don't know, but I do know that no after-the-fact, temporary boycott is going to make them say, "hey, maybe we should have accepted the league's December 5 proposal and never do this again."

Do what you want, but don't delude yourself into thinking a week or a month or even a season of abstaining from spending money on NHL hockey will have any impact.

I'm pissed too! And I too have beer. I've still got a full unopened case of Kings/Bud Light bottles for opening night, whenever that comes...

ROFL sorry you are comparing gas to hockey? That is a horrible comparison. LMAO. Gas people NEED for the cars to get to work. Not everyone lives close, able to ride share, or have a transportation system. Last I checked hockey isn't a NEED like gas is for people. Also if the NHL dies, it won't effect the world or country except the small percent of hockey fans like us. Your comparisons you use are so far off it isn't even funny. "Preaching to a smoker that smoking is bad". Seriously? So you know for a fact if all the fans of all the teams boycotted a week of games that it won't hurt them or do anything? Sorry this isn't the NFL.
