I like this deal. One more needed.
KINGS ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN KEATON ELLERBY
FROM FLORIDA FOR A FIFTH ROUND SELECTION
IN 2013 NHL DRAFT
KINGS DEFENSEMAN ANDREW CAMPBELL ASSIGNED TO MANCHESTER
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Keaton Ellerby from Florida in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft and assigned defenseman Andrew Campbell to Manchester (AHL), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Ellerby, 24, has played in 125 career NHL games (all with the Panthers), recording 17 points (2-15=17) and 70 penalty minutes. The 6-5, 217-pound native of Strathmore, Alberta was drafted by the Panthers in the first-round (10th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
This season, Ellerby has appeared in nine games with the Panthers, recording zero points and 36 penalty minutes. Ellerby is expected to join the team in Nashville and his jersey number has not been determined at this time.
The fifth-round selection traded to Florida is the same fifth-round selection acquired by the Kings from New Jersey in exchange for forward Andrei Loktionov on Wednesday, February 6.
Good size and 125 games NHL experience. Not expecting much but you can't argue it's a good price for a warm body for a 5th.
Not too familiar with the guy, but from what I've heard/seen, he ain't a bad 7th D-Man to have.
Those 5th rounders are quite popular... so essentially Lokti for Ellerby straight-up.

Drewiske's days are numbered.
Boy, in hindsight, all the draftnicks were right about that 2007 draft being a clunker.
He is going to help right away. Darryl obvious is partial to veteran d-men with size. One less rook in the lineup.
At least DL is trying to allow this team to work their way out of this without blowing it up.
