Ah yes zorak, all posts should start with either
Also how is this paragraph of his:
"First, what are the Kings doing right?
Getting the puck at the opponents goal. They are doing it more than their opposition. By one of the highest margins in the league. How do I know this? Because people (evil sorcerers known as statisticians) count shots. And compare them. And present them in the form of tables and graphs."
very much ties into my post. You do know a shot on goal can mean anything that is on goal right? slap shots from the blue line, dump ins on net etc. can be a shot on goal as well. Out shooting opponents means squat. Quality chances and shots is something completely different. Bad luck has nothing to do with why they aren't scoring.
it is amazing how fast people go back to their center of gravity.
Most probably already know this, but....."a shot on goal is only counted as a shot on goal if a) the shot would have gone in had the goalie not been there, and b) the shooter must have taken the shot with the INTENT of scoring". So dump-ins are not counted as shots on goal, even if they happen to be toward the net.
And as far as the Kings are concerned, they are not only outshooting their opponents on a regular basis, they are also outchancing them. Here's how the scoring chances break down for each game (at even strength):
+4 against ANA
EVEN against NASH
+6 against VAN
-5 against PHX
+5 against EDM
+2 against COL
Can't seem to find the CHI game, but let's assume that was in the minus column.

I think this was mentioned already, but they also have no players with a negative Corsi rating.
Once the goaltending stabilizes, the Kings should start piling up points no problem.
Right now, we're dealing with an awfully small sample size of games, and unfortunately it's a short season, so waiting for things to stabilize can be problematic. But for the time being, I wouldn't be too concerned.
They don't need the element of surprise to beat teams in this league. What they need is a little better goal tending, a little better focus, and (according to the stats so far) a bit more luck.
So the more the Kings suck the better they will be?

I am not worried so much about how well the Kings haven't done, more so how well some of the other teams in the conference are doing.
Despite silver lining, I dont think they have looked good at all even if it wasn't "bad." Hopefully Saturday was a wake up call. Couldn't ask for an easier team to play on a rebound game tomorrow. Better get the W.
