Because its a smart thing to just sit around and not get some game time conditioning in considering there could still be a salvaged season? Makes sense to me...

Kopitar to Sweden team: Source -- Los Angeles Kings' Anze Kopitar signs deal with Sweden's Mora IK - ESPN
^ Beat me to it. Good news here is he joined a second tier team and not the Elite League, where he would have needed to commit for an entire season.
Supposedly Kopitar's younger brother Gasper also plays for Mora, starting from this season. That could have been the primary reason for Kopi to go there. Otherwise, for a Stanley Cup winner and a leader on the championship team, to play in the second Swedish league, just sounds wrong.
Actually it IS the primary reason. He said that in a recent video interview. I could link it but it is in Slovenian.
Also the contract is such that he packs his bags and flies over to the US as soon as the NHL resumes. Playing in the Swedish Elite league would not allow that.
Edit:
Heres a written version that you can google-translate. He says that exact same thing.

Thanks, my native Slovak is somewhat similar to Slovenian, so I can get the gist of it even without GoogleTranslate.
There are still 2 spots open on my KHL team, Slovan Bratislava, now that Lubo signed for them. It would be great if a Kings player joined the team! They said Slovan was negotiating with Chara & Sekera, but those guys are still lingering in the US, while Hossa & Gaborik are still recovering from injuries/surgeries.
I read Dustin Brown was in talks with 2 KHL teams & 2 Swiss teams. Anyone know any details?
Perhaps a Mod can update the thread title as players sign somewhere. I'd imagine that might cut down on some duplicate threads that might arise.
