I don't think Tim Thomas is nutty....a fair amount of people have been maligned and vilified by this president. And Thomas made a statement that he felt he had to make.

That being said, I would hope that when you are in a situation like that as part of an organization and are representing said organization, you suck it up and respect THE OFFICE even though you believe the man is a glorified activist and has presided over the most corrupt presidency since the Grant administration. Ahem.

Jonathan Bernier never showed up. I think he had to go to a funeral if I remember.

i don't completely disagree with you. i realize people have different political views but it's the way he chooses to express them, via social media and refusing to go to the white house, where it seems he puts himself before the team. that's great and all, but it's not great for the team or the locker room. then there was that time he took a year off. he's well within his right to, but he's no spring chicken and it doesn't seem to have helped his game. it just seemed like an odd time to do that when the time a hockey player, especially a goalie, has the chance to play out his career isn't really that long in the big picture. basically, there were a few things here and there, not just one thing or opinion, that gave me the "timmy T" is a little nutty vibe.

Sorry but Tim Thomas is nutty. Even if you pretend like the whole subbing the first Black President thing didn't happen, there are things in Tim Thomas's background that would lead you to believe that he is part nutty, part ignorant, and maybe part racist. Is it hypocritical that Tim got so much flack for snubbing Obama when any other sports athlete would have been dubbed a hero for snubbing George W. Bush? Sure it is, but it still doesn't change the fact that Tim Thomas is an idiot who should be respected by no one.

Hearing people defend Tim Thomas because he MAY share the same political beliefs they have is like hearing people defend Sean Avery because he MAY share the same political views they hold. I'm pretty sure most people here defending Thomas are probably not the biggest Avery fans. What people need to realize is regardless of your political views, both Tim Thomas and Sean Avery are polar opposites of the same person, and that person is an ignorant moron.

As Kings fans I would like to believe we are all above supporting the both of them.

    Happy 4'th of July everyone!
