Thread: LA City Council Approves Plans to Build New Football Stadium

I dont see it happening.
There is NO benefit for a NFL owner to move his team to LA. They are already making a ton of money because of the NFLs TV deal. Why move to a market that will cost far more to do business in? The ONLY team that possibly make any sense is San Diego. They are already in Cali so the sticker shock of the cost to business here wont scare them off. Cali/ SD WILL NOT pay for a new stadium for them and the Spanos cant afford to do it themselves. LA may be the only hope they have of getting a new stadium.
2014/2015 at the earliest if we see a team at all. We may need to wait for a NFL to come for sale which rarely happens anymore because they are such cash cows, why sell

Is this being 100% privately financed?

How bout getting a ****ing team to commit to coming to LA first? And not the Jags. I'd love to be fan of an LA football team, as long as it ISN'T the Raiders.

The city/state will not be writing any checks but there will be tax breaks, fast tracking and fee waivers that will save AEG millions. The same thing was done when they built Staples and Home Depot Center

I can deal with this. The tax breaks and fee waivers seem fair considering how well AEG has redeveloped the area. I have lived in the neighborhood for almost a decade and it is definitely a nicer place. I'm just happy it's not a straight up handout.
