Default LA City Council Approves Plans to Build New Football Stadium

Final EIR approved, Farmers Field is coming! | Farmers Field

This is not really new news but I didn't see any threads about this. Why did I post this in Home Ice? AEG is the winning suitor for building the new stadium.

Los Angeles City Council approves plan for downtown NFL stadium - ESPN Los Angeles

Also it appears that AEG is very close to being sold and the Kings may end up with a new owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong (Patrick Soon-Shiong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The city council's approval, which was widely anticipated, came in a packed council chambers at city hall. Among those in attendance were Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, ex-USC quarterback Rodney Peete, two local high school football teams, a large contingent of former Los Angeles Rams fans and dozens of union workers.
But the most notable member of the audience was billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong, who is expected to make a strong bid to purchase AEG.

I so want this to happen. I'm not even in that into the NFL but it would be cool.

Probably will be completed before the new CBA is agreed upon

This entire deal is likely contingent upon the 110 freeway converting the carpool lane into a toll lane.

They will also be uprooting the LA Conventions Center and rebuilding it in a different location making one of the top 5 Convention Centers in the Country.

For some reason I just can't see them having enough parking spots for a 68,000 to 78,000 fans.

The missing key is a comprehensive mass transit system. With that, all the other issues will subside. And buses by themselves won't cut it.

I would be shocked if AEG isn't sold this year, given the likely tax ramifications of selling the team next year.

The real important question here is: How much will my freaking taxes go up so subsidize this thing ? (And no, I am not counting the long overdue mass transit and other infrastructure improvements in the cost)
