Dude has a surgery every time he wins a Cup. I don't really love that he will not have a full off season to train to defend the Cup but apparently the Kings felt it was more important for him to have it done sooner rather than later and didn't think PT would suffice. Get well soon, Quickie! We want you prepared for the start of the season!

I am guessing Its glove hand, Glove side did not look as strong in the latter half the playoffs, and he bobbled a couple pucks in his glove from what I remember.

"Emergency" might be overstated, and I'm just speculating, but maybe it started to swell badly and/or there was nerve involvement. That would cause them to expedite things.
