I'm not sure I would say that bidding is "out of hand". Current bid is $62,500. If you really want an "authentic" ring then I see only three other options:

1. take a chance in the Kings Care Foundation raffle and have only a 1 in 50,000 chance (my guess) of getting one, or
2. somehow convince a player/coach/staff to sell you their ring, odds of which I would put at 1 in 100,000,000 and at a price way beyond $62K, or
3. buy a controlling interest in Tiffany Company (current market capitalization is $8.9billion) and then you can have them make anything you want.

So, $62,500 doesn't sound like such a bad deal. If you really want an authentic ring AND you've got the bankroll to get it.
