I don't know if Simon Gagne could've fetched better than a 3rd/4th round draft pick..... Sure, he hasn't looked great in the system, but how much of an opportunity has he really had this year, let alone to play "his" way (which also might produce favorable results)?

And if we're giving away players for nothing (as opposed to receiving comparative value), in the long-term, I'm afraid it'll be problematic.

AB, not sure what you believe DL could have gotten, but he has to deal in the real world and he got what he could optimally get at the time he pulled the trades. That's the cold, hard, not Fantasy Hockey truth.

KFMGM - You say that DL is not managing his assets optimally in nearly every post, but offer up no counter to what you think he should be doing. What would you do in every trade and waiver instance this year? Here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I want to know what you would have done.

    Westgarth trade to CAR
    Hickey lost to waivers
    Clune lost to waivers
    Loktionov traded to NJ
Ellerby picked up in trade with FLA
    Gagne traded to PHI

Loki was a strong -2 last night with a solid 9% in the FO circle. Since Loki's arrival the Devils are a strong 2-6. Loki can score because his shooting % is good. It will be interesting to see how their season plays out and into the playoffs.

the HIckey one is the only one that hurts. and oddly enough, the one i'm fairly certain Dean didn't want to have happen.

I don't think Dean wanted to lose him either...but he had no choice but to put him on waivers. Since Thomas was clearly not going to make the Kings roster, and he can't go back to Manchester without going through waivers, Dean's hands were tied. That's not mismanagement.

Lokti wasn't going to play with the Kings either, and the entire league knew it. That Dean got anything at all for Lokti is a coup.

I completely agree. What I'm searching for is for somebody who will address the statement "DL is not managing his assets optimally" with their alternative scenario that isn't rooted in Fantasy Hockey. Putting Hickey on waivers falls into asset management, so I want to know what the proposed alternative would be from those deriding the Hickey loss. I've yet to see one. I think, more than anything, I'm wanting to NOT see those ridiculous posts any longer. Wishful thinking, I know.

I think, in regards to Hickey, people would argue that DD should have been the one to get sent down. Now, I don't know that I agree with it or not, but it's at least a reasonable suggestion. Regardless, I'm not concerned with losing Hickey or Loktionov considering what the Kings currently have. Would Hickey have replaced Voynov or Doughty? No. Martinez? Maybe?
