Default Make or Break Week for Kings?

The next 5 games are all against their own division and 5 games in 8 days. Kings have had problems playing the Sharks and Coyotes and blew the last game against the Stars. Anyone else feel that if the Kings can handle this week they'll cruise into the playoffs and if they get pushed around we'll be outside looking in?

We were the 8th seed, turned Stanley Cup Champs... and you doubt this club?

That was that club. This is this club. The wins have been fun (so many goals), the losses have been scary. Just, yikes...

San Jose started the season 6-0-0. Right now they are currently 9th.

The 14th and 15th teams in the conference are currently 6 points behind the 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams... let that sink in for a second.

Do you think one bad week, one way or another, will allow the Kings to cruise into the playoffs or sink them?

Same schedule for the next 3 weeks.

    No.

About 55 points will be the cutoff this season. That's a 12-10-1 record over the last 23. This next week is no more important than any other week,

Divisions are overrated - Detroit can take the 8th playoff spot away from us just as much as San Jose could. Every game is in conference, so every point the Kings don't get goes to a team that could pass them for a playoff spot. Any streak the Kings go on, be it these two weeks or the next two, any streak will put them in a vastly better spot (like the streak that pulled them out of the 10-12 place and up to the 3-5 place) or drop them into a significantly worse spot. But losing points to teams like Phoenix and Dallas is not pretty. Unless we run down the Ducks, the only thing divisions will do is give our 3 seed to Minnesota.

It depends, how many dropped sticks do their upcoming opponents have?

Just stating that the Kings have shown that they can dominate other teams but this will be a good test to see if the Kings can win against the two teams that have been problems for the Kings the past couple of years.

Didn't mean to make this a doom and gloom post.

FWIW, I didn't take it as doom and gloom. I just think that even if the Kings win the next five games, they aren't out of the woods. It's way too close right now.
