DD2 should absolutely not sit due to his appetite for PK minutes, as previously mentioned. I think sitting Ellerby is the way to go for two reasons:
1. Seems that Sutter is increasing Muzzin's role over the last four or five games, and I think it makes sense to allow that to develop further.
2. Getting in more practice time and observing some games from the press box gives Ellerby more time to acclimate to the Kings system.
D.D. has pleasently surprised me. Muzzin has to sit, but if Ellerby decides to take some time off, we switch #6 for #5. Good situation to be in but we need A-Mart back. Forwards are doing a great job getting back to help. It seems like Kopi is everywhere and Clifford has been flying. Lewis is back to his old form and man that guy takes some hits.
Martinez is almost back! Yay! Now we can win the Stanley Cup again.
My guess: Muzzin sits.
DD2 is consistently getting shots through to the net, which is what the Kings need. Has more experience, and IS the 7th D-man. (Yeah yeah, Muzzin had that one PP Goal).
Edit: On second thought, Muzzin and A-Mart might be fighting with a job since they play the same game. Muzzin has better size... with a little more NHL time under Muzzy's belt maybe A-Mart will be on the trade block. Just some fodder to throw out there..
Detroit game TOI:
JM - 19:11
KE - 13:44
DD - 15:46
Anaheim:
JM - 20:53
KE - 11:40
DD - 15:49
Colorado:
JM - 19:15
KE - 14:13
DD - 16:19
By the numbers, it would appear that Ellerby will sit.
I think it's safe to say that we have no freaking idea what Sutter is going to do.
Sit Doughty
I still think Muzzin will be the one sitting. Even though Ellerby's been playing fewer minutes, I think it's more about him having less exposure with the Kings system where they've tried to shelter him a bit. Ellerby is still playing the stay-at-home role; we know how much of a struggle it was when one of Muzzin/Martinez had to play the stay-at-home role.
But the other possibility is that we'll see a healthy rotation of defensemen sitting, given that the Kings have a crazy busy March schedule.
