Where are the pictures, people?
Where are the pictures, people?
;(((((( been sat in Dustin Browns line since doors
and haven't moved in since !
Waste of my time. Every year I go to the MTP just to take pictures, and usually can come up with a nice collection. When I got in line tonight someone said they had earlier tried to bring in their camera/lens and told they had return it back to their car. I went forward and before the guy at the door said anything I told him that we had been told we could bring cameras to take pictures of the players. I told myself that - I think that counts. He shrugged and let me in. (I have a Nikon D4, 70-200 zoom, and flash, which is about as good a rig as you can have.) OK, that worked out. But then I found it was near impossible to get a good picture of each player. The way they set it up they kept guiding you into the seating area and from there you could approach the players and then they would be less than five feet away from you when you finally got to them. That doesn't work too good with a telephoto lens. And if I have to do all that sitting in the seats before getting in line to take each shot I potentially could get maybe 6-7 total close-ups of their nose hairs. I did see that I could get good shots if I was in the premier sections looking down at the players but I didn't even ask about that access after having been stopped by at least three people when I tried taking short cuts in the exit tunnels.
If they have MTP at Staples next year I won't bother showing up. Gave away my voucher for one hot dog and one soda to a guy walking in. Hope he had a better time than I did.
Very disappointed this year as well.
Quite possibly the absolute worst MTP ever.
I got to the Brown, Scuderi, Fraser line at 6:30 PM when players arrived. I got my autograph at 9:20 PM. The lines did not move, period. By the time the players were signing my things and taking a picture, they were annoyed and bored and couldn't wait to leave.
What a bummer. Wow. That is all I care to share right now.

You're welcome.

First off, I understand that the team doesn't have to host events like this but if they continue to host them you'd think they would try to learn from their mistakes and attempt at improving the event from year to year. With every MTP...I try to keep my expectations extremely low because I know for whatever reason the Kings staff is inept at planning special events. This year, all I wanted was to get an autograph from Quick and Doughty. I thought that was completely possible...
This season's MTP....It's as if they threw this event together the night before (which may have been the case?) They sent us all to park in Lot C around the corner from the convention center, not GATE C directly across from Staples. Lot C has one entrance. How many season ticket holders do the Kings have again? Sending us all to the smallest lot that Staples Center uses? They knew there was going to be overflow. Perfect.
Lining us up on the Convention Center side of the S.C. Why not use the main Star Plaza entrance where lines could be formed at each open door? Instead they line us up on the Convention Center side where there's just no room. The two outer lines grew longer and longer. Once doors opened up, the SC workers started announcing that there was no wait in the middle lines and then you had people cutting the line from the back to the middle lines.
Once we got in...
In year's past, they've done groups of two players. You usually get to stand in maybe three or four lines, if you're lucky. This year, they got the idea to do groups of three and four players. Great! More autographs! Wrong! Less groups of players equals less lines to disperse the crowd which means twice as long the wait. As soon as we entered the building we went straight to the Quick/Drewiske/Greene/Westgarth line. We were about three aisles from the ice. Luckily, we got seats? I saw alot of people standing outside just for a chance to sit inside the lower bowl. We sat at 6:05 and didn't get to "meet the players" until 8:50. We knew by that time all the other lines were going to be exactly the same way. I knew leaving the parking structure was going to be a mess with only a couple exits so we left at 9:00.
They did offer us a whopping 10% off in the TeamLA store though.
Like I said, I appreciate the organization continuing to host events for STH's but if you're going to go thru the trouble of hosting these events, why not try to improve them? For someone who has extremely low expectations of these events to begin with...I guess I'll have to lower them even more...

Players were very gracious with their time.
Unless you were in the front of the line to start, I doubt anyone could get more than 2 groups signed, maybe 3 at best if you picked the right groups.
Being able to sit down, and watch the game a bit, beat the hell out of having to stand in line at every station.
I got to sit down close to the ice, and it didn't look too great. There was a canyon in between the hash marks in front of the net Quick defense twice, and my guess is they had to seriously do some patchwork there.
Heard that Dewey is at 205 lbs., which is 5 lbs. lighter than he was last season.
Confirmation that Mitchell is going to be out a bit, and it looks like Lombardi is looking outside for help.
Clifford commented that they did their medicals today, so they will be on the ice raring to go tomorrow.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I had a great time, got almost everyones autograph i wanted. I got there at 4:30 and i knew that it would be crowded by then already and it was, but i was about 60th person in line. I went strai to Quicks area and was out by 20mins. I then went to the penner line and waited an hour there and then got my free hotdog and soda. Then i went to the carter line where my family was and waited there for another hour+ but was able to just make it before time was up. I was traying to get all 4 of my series pucks sign by the players that eliminated each team and Mr, MVP to sign the championship puck.. I got all but Brown only because my niece was so star strucked she forgot to have him sign it lol.. all in all had a good time.
