Maybe it's because the idea of home grown players is still so novel on the kings. Its strange because my all time favorite is still Granato but I chalk that up to being a very young fan at the time.

Richards and Carter have special qualities to me that put them on par with the homegrown Kings. Don't know if I could say that for everyone that comes in, but these two have these qualities. Both were brought in as outcasts. Neither took a mercenary approach, and instead both embraced the black and white Kings colors that they wear today. Both taught this team how to go to the next level, and both were ridiculously effective in giving us one of the most dominant and historical Cup runs in history.

To me, they're LA Kings to the very soul.

Default Mike Richards is Mega Man

Richards is just so clutch. He finds a way in the most critical of times.
He is perfect for the C2 role. He doesn't have to play 20+ minutes so he can play all out and not wear out.
He's fantastic in the playoffs and he's got a mean streak.

He's not the 70-80 point player he once was in Philly but he is perfect for what he does with the Kings. And it doesn't suck that Schenn hasn't yet turned into a star and the Flyers are struggling.

In all honesty, I still think he is that player. The difference is that in the East, nobody plays any defense and the offensive style is very uptempo. In the West, goaltending and defense are far superior, and many of the bigger Centers and D-Men play here as well. It's no surprise point totals are higher in the East. Richards earning around 66 points a season, while still playing an excellent two-way game out here in the West sounds about right for me.

Mega Man music is awesome, especially Dr. Wily's fortress music.

On a side note, I have the strongest urge ever to download a SNES emulator and fire up Mega Man X-2.

If Richards ends up with close to 70 points you won't hear any complaining from me.
